The heart of our home.
Classic and elegant – the design brief for our kitchen. It also needed to be really functional, bright and seamless, with a gentle flow through to the butlers pantry…the next reveal to come! If you love our kitchen, then this will be right up your alley too!
The stunning ILVE oven is the central focal point and the show stopper of the kitchen. It was 100% on my ‘Must Have’ list and something that I wasn’t willing to compromise on. The white and brass had me heart from the beginning.
As much natural light as possible was another ‘Must Have’ and was incorporated into the kitchen through three gorgeous Velux skylights which sit centrally above the kitchen island. Window splash backs were also incorporated into the design for a few reasons…We wanted to let as much natural light into the kitchen as possible. We also love gardening and landscaping and wanted to bring a little of the outside in. Lastly, being able to be cooking in the kitchen while also being able to see Aoife playing in the garden was really important. Ticking three boxes – winner!
Functionality is important to making any space efficient. I am not a massive cook, so the least amount time that I have to spend doing it is winning in my eyes. Deep drawers are so much more practical in a kitchen, as they allow you to be able to access everything that is inside, rather than trying to rifle and fumble around in the dark back of a cupboard. We installed banks of drawers everywhere possible and it makes using the kitchen much more enjoyable.
Flow and continunity from one space to another makes for a seamless and smooth flow throughout the home. We have used gorgeous Lo&Co Interiors brass handles throughout this whole home. Being open plan living, I love that the brass touches are able to be seen from so many different areas of the home. We used Aver Pull handles on the lower cabinets and complimented them with the brass knobs on the upper cabinets.
Calacatta stone bench tops by EssaStone were an absolute must, and we complimented the benched by using the same stone as a splash back as well. The soft veining that runs through the stone is classic and elegant.
Brass, brass and more brass. Gorgeous ABI Interiors tap ware and sinks feature throughout the kitchen and into the butlers panty to create cohesion and flow.
Under mounted brass ABI Interiors sinks bringing a touch of luxe and are a gorgoeus compliment to the Calacatta stone bench tops.
I love a fully integrated appliance. They help to create a seamless and uninterrupted flow throughout the kitchen. Placement of your dishwasher is also really important – you need to make sure that it is close to your sink so you can rinse and stack with ease.
One of my favourite functional pieces in the kitchen, is this spice draw, located right next to the oven. When cooking, it is as easy as pulling out the drawer and adding your favourite flavour.
Under mount range hood details, with these classic timber corbels.
Shaker style cabinetry, painted in Deluxe Vivid White, complementing the classic and crisp design of the kitchen.
In kitchen design, I really like everything to be as seamless as possible. And that includes hiding as many power points as possible. A decision we made to support this was to incorporate power points into our ‘tech cupboards’ on each end of the island in touch-open cupboards. Inside are a bank of power points and USB points where iPhones and laptops can be popped away off the bench to charge, but also allows for other kitchen appliances to be plugged in.
Another seamless addition to the kitchen is an integrated bin system. Bins can often take up space if you need to find somewhere on the kitchen floor to put it. Integrated bins are a great space saver.
I couldn’t leave the kitchen reveal without including a pic of the main man himself, Winston. He’s figured out that posing for pics equals treats, so he’s very happy to oblige.
I’m so delighted to be sharing this gorgeous space with you. Thank you again for your continued support of my design projects. I can’t wait to bring you more spaces and projects this year!
Thanks for joining me – I cant wait to bring you the next room reveal!
